The nose is rich and oaked. There are notes of chewy resinous wood with a well-balanced acidity. Fudge and Madeira with apple crumble with calvados. The palate is full and rich with winter spice; cinnamon and cloves, thick oak with developing aridity. The finish is long and dry with a peppery note.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

The nose is quite full and rich. There are notes of sandalwood and pine with a resinous note. Potpourri creeps in with barley sugar and cereal notes with acacia honey. The palate is rich and full. There are notes of oily walnuts and winter fruitcake with spice and sugar. There is a golden syrup note. The finish is long and sweet with a soft, chewy oak.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Dried fruit notes at the fore, soon joined by rich chocolate and a subtle nuttiness (almost a bit like a Picnic bar). Hints of struck match, anise, cinnamon and vanilla.

Palate: Dark chocolate, Seville orange, flaky pastry and crunchy fruits fresh from the orchard. Give it a minute and the anise on the nose comes running back too.

Finish: More dark chocolate and drying spice.

Nose: Rich. There are notes of chewy sultanas and morello cherry; dried herbs and cooked fruits with apple crumble and a balanced acidity; crème de cacao.

Palate: Thick and smooth. There are notes of Sherried peels and sultanas; chewy toffee and walnut; dried fruits emerge with a juicy touch.

Finish: Long and rich with winter spice.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Quite big and well-rounded. There are notes of chewy sultanas and Sherried peels, barley sugars and toasty cereals with petals and apple blossom. A touch of fudge and gentle wisps of smoke.

Palate: Full and rich with notes of chewy, tannic oak. Manuka honey and walnut with Cox’s apples and orange peels. Cut herbs - fennel and spearmint.

Finish: Long and dry with a spicy oak note.

 The Glenlivet distillery is a distillery near Ballindalloch in Moray, Scotland that produces single malt Scotch Whisky. It is the oldest legal distillery in the parish of Glenlivet, and the production place of the Scotch Whisky of the same name. It is described in packaging and advertising as "The single malt that started it all". It was founded in 1824 and has operated almost continuously since.The distillery remained open throughout the Great Depression and its only closure came during World War 2 . The Glenlivet distillery has grown in the post-war period to become one of the biggest single malt distilleries in order to keep up with global demand; The Glenlivet brand is the biggest selling single malt whisky in the United States and the second biggest selling single malt brand globally.
Today, the distillery is owned by the French alcoholic beverages company Pernod Ricard and they oversee the distillery's production of 5,900,000 proof litres per annum.The majority of this – enough for 6 million bottles – is sold as The Glenlivet single malt, with the remainder being used in Pernod Ricard's blended whisky brands.

1822年英王喬治四世以凱旋之姿出巡愛丁堡，華特‧史考特 爵士在籌劃歡迎活動時，特別取得格蘭利威的威士忌來討國 王的歡心。格蘭利威創始人喬治‧史密斯在1824年向英王喬治四世爭取合法釀酒執照，英王喬治四世頒發出格蘭利威區的一張合法釀酒執照，格蘭利威酒廠也由 一個農村的蒸餾散戶，轉型為利威河谷第一個擁有蒸餾執照的酒商。當時，許多斯貝賽的蒸餾酒廠都偷用格蘭利威這個名字。為維護格蘭利威所產出之麥芽威士忌的 聲名，身為第一個利威河谷擁有合法蒸餾執照的酒商－喬治‧史密斯（George Smith）的子嗣，也是當時酒廠負責人正式向英國法院提出正名要求，並在1884年獲得英國政府頒佈法令，唯具有純正血統的「格蘭利威 (The Glenlivet)」才有權使用格蘭利威的名稱。在法令生效後，所有業者都不得在產品上沿用格蘭利威的名號。

格蘭利威是第一家在美國大力促銷的單一麥芽威士忌。在美國解除禁酒令的同時，史密斯的曾孫就到美國去宣傳家族生產的原廠麥芽威士忌。由於這是美國首見的單一麥芽威士忌，因此轟動一時。
格蘭利威旗下擁有不同年份及窖藏方式的產品，包括最為人熟知的12年、15年、18年、21年及特殊年份之窖藏系列。

酒廠簡介

格 蘭利威全新擴建的蒸餾廠已在 2010 年 6 月正式啟用，查爾斯王子亦參與了啟用典禮。格蘭利威的總產量已由每年 600 萬公升增加至 1,000 萬公升以上，蒸餾廠的營運將因產能擴增而更加成功，順利邁入下一個世紀。本廠已新增 1 座醣化槽、8 座木製發酵槽與 6 座銅製蒸餾器，目前總計有15座銅製蒸餾器，堪稱蘇格蘭最現代化的蒸餾廠之一。

  格蘭利威酒廠特色—喬西之井(Josie’s Well)

使用喬西之井富含礦物質的水源(硬水)，終年5-8℃的冰涼清澈，使得從大麥中粹取糖分的過程更加順利，進而創造出完美的麥汁，為格蘭利威注入獨特傲人的特質。即使使用硬水會使蒸餾器壽命減少一半，仍堅持使用硬水，只為創造出最優質的酒液。

  格蘭利威酒廠特色—高頸蒸餾器

獨特的高頸燈籠型銅製蒸餾器，是當地最大型的蒸餾器，約有 8 公尺高。蒸餾頸的寬度讓酒液與蒸餾器有最多的接觸，而蒸餾器的高度則讓酒質更輕、更細緻。因此高頸蒸餾器是格蘭利威威士忌風味特性的決定性關鍵。

 格蘭利威酒廠位於高於海平面900英呎的高地，是蘇格蘭最冷的地區，為威士忌的熟成，帶來最好的環境條件。
