Nose: This opens on big, smoky muscular peat notes. There are spices, and liquorice, as well as a big dose of salt. This whisky has become slightly sweeter in recent years, and it beautifully on the nose, amidst the classic iodine/sticking plasters and cool wood smoke we love.
Palate: Seaweed-led, with a hint of vanilla ice cream and more than a whiff of notes from the First Aid box (TCP, plasters etc). The oak is big, and muscles its way into the fore as you hold this whisky over your tongue. An upsurge of spices develop – cardamom/black pepper/chilli.
Finish: Big and drying, as the savoury, tarry notes build up with an iodine complexity.
Overall: The only malt from Laphroaig’s range that John Campbell recommends with water; try it, it opens up the palate massively, providing a dazzling array of additional flavours…

拉佛格單一純麥威士忌於1815年正式登記品牌,但其實早在1810年其創辦人便開始生產威士忌,由於拉佛格所處水源地的水質非常柔軟、充滿泥煤味以及稀少礦物雜質成分的純淨口感,被認為是製造威士忌的最佳水源。
在 1935至1954年間,拉佛格出現了一位威士忌業界少有的女性經營者Bessie Williamson女士。拉佛格在進軍國際市場時也有個趣史,因為其獨特而濃厚的海藻氣息,足以說服美國海關採信拉佛格單一純麥威士忌含碘具備醫療作 用,而被當作醫藥製品獲得特准進口,是唯一在美國禁酒令期間進口的蘇格蘭單一純麥威士忌!
單一純麥威士忌四大產區主要集中在蘇格蘭北部,唯 一不在本島的一區便是艾雷島Islay Island,相對於蘇格蘭本島產的威士忌,艾雷島出產的威士忌擁有截然不同的強烈口感,因此已被視為是非常獨立的一個產區類別。在整個蘇格蘭威士忌的譜 系中,艾雷島威士忌普遍被認為是最重口味的一系,以帶有厚重的泥煤味與海鹽味而出名。石南屬植物、苔蘚和海藻在泥炭中的完美結合,賦予拉佛格單一純麥威士 忌獨特的鹹味和海洋氣息。

The Laphroaig distillery was established in 1815 by Donald and Alexander Johnston.The Johnstons who founded Laphroaig were from the Clan Donald and are likely to be from the MacIain of Ardnamurchan branch of the clan. The family anglicised their name to Johnston.The last member of the Johnston family to run the distillery was Ian Hunter, a nephew of Sandy Johnston, who died childless in 1954 and left the distillery to one of his managers , Bessie Williamson .

The distillery was sold to Long John International in the 1960s, and subsequently became part of Allied Domecq . The brand was in turn acquired by Fortune Brands in 2005, as one of the brands divested by Pernod Ricard in order to obtain regulatory approval for its takeover of Allied Domecq. Fortune Brands then split up its business product lines in 2011, forming its spirits business into Beam Inc. Beam was then purchased by Suntory Holdings in April 2014.
Laphroaig has been the only whisky to carry the Royal Warrant of the Prince of Wales , which was awarded in person during a visit to the distillery in 1994. The 15-year-old was reportedly the prince's favourite Scotch whisky.
